George Dalton - Tadcaster

I wonder if anyone can help me. My GG Grandfather was George Dalton from Tadcaster. Born in 1824 d 1880 in Christchurch. Came out on the George Seymour. in 1850.

I had no idea the Daltons were Irish. I cannot find any evidence on the Dalton NZ map of this family. I have a  lot of info on it but wondered if there where any other family members in NZ. Any info is welcome.
