JOHN or THOMAS DALTON

I'm finding it extremely hard to find anything on my ancestor John or Thomas Dalton.
On his marriage cert. he states that he's from Dublin and was born 1830.  His parents were Peter Dalton a "cooper" and Ann McDonnell.   They may have travelled from Ireland to Canada.  John or Thomas Dalton made his way to Australia and has many descendants.  All of us are unable to break through that 1830 barrier.   Could anyone please help.   Thanks.

You mention that the name was John or Thomas.  Can you give a bit more info on where the 2 names appear.

Have you searched the Dalton Data Bank at  http://www.daltondatabank.org/  for birth info for your ancestor?  There is an extensive Dublin section which includes a great many birth/baptism listings.
