2016 Gathering in Manchester, UK
« on: 18 June, 2016, 11:50 »
Each year, the Society arranges a major Gathering event for members. For 2016, the DGS Gathering and Annual General Meeting will take place Friday September 16th & Saturday September 17th, 2016 in Manchester, UK.

This year is the 250th anniversary of the birth of John Dalton, FRS (Fellow Royal Society), the celebrated scientist who is remembered for introducing Atomic Theory. Manchester was chosen to mark John Dalton's contributions to science, as he spent most of his working life in Manchester.

Special arrangements have been made with the Manchester Museum of Science & Technology for attendees to view some of John Dalton's possessions and equipment. Visits to historic libraries in Manchester are also planned. Since some of the libraries are only open on week days, library and museum visits are planned for Friday, and the AGM is scheduled for Saturday September 17th.

Local accommodations are being investigated now, but those planning to attend may wish to consider making their own hotel arrangements. It would be very helpful to know how may members are planning to attend. Kindly contact the Journal editor, John Dalton by email johndalton78@hotmail.com if you are thinking of attending.
