Ellen is my great aunt. She was the daughter of Peter Browne and Bridgid Coffey. Her sisters went to the United States in 1888 but she stayed in County Westmeath, Ireland. Her and John or James' children were Adele, Mamie, Joseph and Rosemary. One of them married a Hynes. And one of the children corresponded with my Aunt Julie in New York. Peter Brown lived in Multyfarnham, Westmeath when the children were born.

I am looking for any information on them.

OK,

Go to http://www.daltondatabank.org/DDBIndex/USA_Wars/Enlistments_list.php

Type dean h into the search box at the top of the window and click on the Search button; there is one result for a Dean H Dalton.

You can also look here:

Scroll down about half way to where you see Verberg 1LT 0-734763 in the first column (called Last). In the last column (called Data) you will see:
CP: CAPT Dean H. Dalton    O-424924        KIA

Some reports indicate that your James Dalton took and scored the first ever penalty kick - playing for Canada against Ireland in Belfast  August 1891.

We also have a soccer medal to 'J. Dalton from MFC (Manchester?) and friend 1913 which could be the same Dalton.

If anyone knows Cheryl, or if Cheryl herself reads this, please respond to this post. I contacted Cheryl in 1998, but have lost her contact information. Mamie Heibel (nee Dalton) lived in Mt. Pleasant MI and died in 2002. Cheryl was researching her family tree; I am now researching mine, descended from Patrick James Dalton (only brother to Mamie) who died in 1997. Thank you in advance!!

I am researching Thomas Dalton who was a broker in Bishopsgate Street, London. He applied to become a broker in 1770 and worked at that occupation until his death in July 1784.

I don't know who he married. There is a marriage recorded for a Thomas Dalton to Sarah Fields on 8 Feb 1740 at St. Giles, Cripplegate, but I don't know if this is the right one.  He had two daughters, Mary and Sarah, who married in 1778 & 1779 respectively.

Margaret Cockburn, a widow who kept an academy for young men in Newington Green, is an aunt of these two girls, but I don't know how they are related.

I don't know the dates for any of these people as I have been unable to find baptism or burial records for any of them.

Does anyone know anything of this family?

Yvonne

It is believed that Thomas Dalton moved to the USA before 1852 (unknown location) but I have no further information about him or his parents (no DOB known) but he is believed to have come from Kilbeggan, Westmeath in Ireland

Alice Dalton is one of my descendants and was born about 1828 in Kilbeggan, County Wesmeath, Ireland and was also known  as Alicia and Ellen and she is Thomas's sister.
She had 4 sisters Catherine Jane, Mary and Winifred and 2 brothers  Richard and Thomas.

Catherine who was born abt 1818, married a Bryan? Nally and had 4 children to him in  Ireland. I have no further information about Alice's parents or what happened to her other  siblings.

On  30 December 1851 Alice was tried with her sister Catherine in Westmeath for stealing 3  sheep and sent to 7 years transportation to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the ship  'Midlothian'. It is from the ship indent (in 1852) for the Midlothian where it lists Thomas Dalton as Alice and Catherines brother and that Thomas is in America.
If I can find information about Thomas it may lead to Alice's parents names etc etc
